Adrenal fatigue is a condition which is caused by a stressful and busy lifestyle. This condition occurs when the adrenal glands are unable to function properly and start to produce excessive amounts of the hormone cortisol.

Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal fatigue cannot be diagnosed in the early stages. When a person surpasses the four stages of this condition, there is an appearance of adrenal insufficiency, which can be medically diagnosed.

Knowing the symptoms of this condition is extremely important in order to treat them on time and to prevent an occurrence of some more serious issues. Here are 6 signs which indicate that you are suffering from adrenal fatigue.

Anxiety and Depression

Your busy schedule and stressful lifestyle may lead to a poor cognitive function, mood changes, and other serious complications.

Increased stress is directly connected to anxiety and depression, so you should find some effective way in which you can manage your stress levels in order to protect your overall health.

Low Thyroid Function

The thyroid gland can be damaged in the second stage of adrenal fatigue. During this stage, you are likely to experience symptoms of hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid function, such as fatigue, weight gain, poor blood circulation, as well as dry skin and hair.

In order to treat these symptoms, you should eat healthy and nutritious foods, drink a sufficient amount of water, avoid consuming caffeine and get enough sleep.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a common symptom of adrenal fatigue. In order to refresh and energize your body, you should sleep for at least 8 hours every night.

Try to go to bed early, regardless of whether you can fall asleep or not. Staying in the dark will help your body to increase its production of melatonin, a hormone which is necessary for regulating the sleeping and waking cycles.

Warm baths, yoga, and other relaxation techniques can also help you to calm your body and to fall asleep.

Poor Digestion

Increased stress levels impede your body’s ability to digest the food properly and to absorb the essential nutrients.

This leads to poor digestion and slow metabolism, which cause indigestion, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and weight gain.

In order to overcome these symptoms, you need to follow a healthy diet and to increase your intake of water, probiotics, and minerals.

Feeling Tired after Working Out

Exercising provides your body with energy. However, physical stress can sometimes lead to adrenal fatigue, which will make you feel exhausted after working out.

In this case, you should try some more gentle exercises, such as walking or yoga. If the aim of your workout routine is weight loss, you should keep in mind that 80% of the results come from a proper nutrition.

Pain and Stiffness

After having a stressful day, you need to recharge your body. Otherwise, you are likely to experience stiffness and pain, especially in your back, neck, and jaw.

Making changes in your sleeping patterns, practicing yoga, and performing some stretching exercises can help you to solve this problem.

Also, warm baths may help you to fight against pain and stiffness since they have anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe your muscles, eliminate the toxins, and balance your body.
