What are the Red Spots That Appear on Various Parts of your Body?

The appearance of certain marks or stains on your skin, such as moles, is usually not harmful to your health. However, some spots are not common moles, but they are cherry red or purplish in color.

These spots are called ruby points, and they commonly occur in people between the age of 40 and 45, but they can also appear in adolescence or childhood.

What Are Ruby Points?

Ruby points are small capillary dilations which occur as a result of failures in the vascular system. They usually appear as we age, and they can be either flat to the skin or slightly raised.

Even though they start to appear as small red dots, they can grow up to a few centimeters in diameter. The ruby points can occur on various areas of the body, but they are most common on the chest and the arms.

Are the Ruby Points Dangerous?

The ruby points are small benign tumors. They are non-carcinogenic in nature and completely harmless to your health.

However, in case you notice any bleeding or change in their size, shape, or color, you should immediately visit your doctor because there might be a cause for concern.

Even though these red dots usually don’t come with any health risk, they can be an unpleasant aesthetic problem. Many people tend to remove the ruby points surgically since they find them uncomfortable when they appear in some visible area.
