Every woman experiences the menstrual cycle in a different way. Most women don’t like to discuss their period symptoms, which can cause many underlying health problems to go unnoticed.

Color of Your Menstrual Blood

Your period can reveal a lot of information about your health. Your menstrual blood is probably perfectly normal if it varies in color and consistency during your period.

However, certain changes in color or thickness may indicate that you are dealing with some health issue. Here is what the color of your menstrual blood reveals about your health.

Pink Color

The pink is the normal blood color during the period. In some cases, however, it can be a sign of a hormonal disorder, a disease of the reproductive organs, or an early pregnancy.

Dark Red Color

The appearance of dark red period blood isn’t a cause for concern. The red color of the blood indicates that your period is normal.

Nevertheless, if the bleeding continues for more than usual, and if the color doesn’t fade, it can be a sign of a spontaneous miscarriage and, in some cases, tumor.

Bright Color

In case you notice that your period color is bright, you have nothing to worry about. This commonly occurs when you have a busy day.

When the blood is running fast out of your body, it doesn’t have any time to darken.

However, if this lasts for a prolonged period of time, and if the blood doesn’t become pinkish during the entire period, you should visit your gynecologist.

Orange Color

An orange color with red flecks occurs when the bright red blood mixes with the cervical fluid.

But, this color can also indicate that you have an infection, especially if it is accompanied by a bad odor, and if it doesn’t have a slippery consistency. In such case, you should immediately visit your doctor.

Brown or Black Color

This color of the blood is usually noticed early in the morning because the blood has remained in the uterus for a long period of time.

This blood color indicates that there is nothing wrong with your health. Nevertheless, if the blood starts to become yellowish, it can be a sign of an infection.
